Rosa Louise McCauley Parks foi uma costureira negra norte-americana, símbolo do movimento dos direitos civis dos negros nos Estados Unidos. Ela ficou famosa, em 1º de dezembro de 1955, quando foi presa por ter recusado a ceder o seu lugar no ônibus a um branco, tornando-se o estopim do movimento que foi denominado boicote aos ônibus de Montgomery e posteriormente viria a marcar o início da luta anti segregacionista.

She became famous on December 1, 1955, when she was arrested for having refused to give her seat on the bus to a white man, becoming the trigger of the movement that was called the Montgomery bus boycott and subsequently would mark the beginning of the anti-segregationist struggle.
